General Thomas P. Stafford Aerospace Award Nominations Requested

 Dear Aerospace Stakeholder,

The General Thomas P. Stafford Aerospace Award will be presented at the Oklahoma Aerospace Summit and Expo, to a person who has made a significant impact on Oklahoma aerospace, and does so in the spirit of General Stafford.  General Stafford has been a pioneer in space exploration, a professional military and astronaut pilot, an unrelenting advocate for space exploration, an aerospace apostle and an inspiration to all who aspire to greatness in aerospace. His professionalism, courage, and pioneering spirit capture the spirit of this award which will be presented during the opening ceremonies of the Oklahoma Aerospace Summit and Expo on June 23, 2008.

 The Thomas P. Stafford Aerospace Award Nomination Guidelines

The award will recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to the growth of the aerospace industry, and who exemplifies the pioneering spirit of Oklahoma and the industry. 

The award can be for significant accomplishments in the past year, or for contributions that occurred over a long-term endeavor.

 Qualifying accomplishments will be in any the following aerospace industry areas:

1. Military, commercial, business MRO or modifications
2. Aerospace manufacturing
3. Commercial Space Development

 NOMINATION PROCESS:  Nominations should be 1-3 pages and be e-mailed to the contact below. (Note this page does not count in the required cover information as one of the three pages). E-Mail nominations by 16 May to: bperryman@rose.edu .

AWARD PRESENTATIONS: The Award is traditionally presented at the Oklahoma Aerospace Summit & Expo Opening Ceremony. 

 Nomination Format

I)  Describe significant accomplishments in any of the following categories:

• Technology development and insertion
• Work Force Development, Education and Training
• Engineering
• Supply Chain improvements
• Innovation in the work place
• Creating competitive advantages for Oklahoma aerospace business
• Enhancing the image of Oklahoma as an Aerospace State
• Improving aerospace safety

 II)  Describe the person’s impact on growth of the industry in one or more of the following areas:

• New product development
• Business growth and success
• Quality job creation
• Improved support for war fighters
• Improvements to the global or national aerospace system

 III)  Describe how the accomplishments reflect the pioneering spirit of Oklahoma and the industry in areas of:

• Courage and personal commitment
• Dedication to the industry and Oklahoma
• Professionalism
• Challenges overcome

 IV)  Include a short (one paragraph) bio of nominee
